The Minister of External Relations, Prof. Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo on Monday, November 10, 2014 received two personalities, the Ambassador-Designate of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Lim Jae-hoon who presented the advance copies of his Letters of Credence. The second was the Resident Representative and Coordinator of the United Nations System in Cameroon, Najat Rochdi.
The new Korean Envoy, who was the first to be received, is familiar with Cameroon, having served as Second Secretary in his country’s embassy in the country in 1995. Born on October 18, 1960, Lim Jae-hoon is holder of a Bachelor’s degree in French and Literature from the Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. He is married and a father of two. After succeeding in his High Diplomatic Service Examination in 1991, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Following his stint in Cameroon, he was in June 1998 appointed Second Secretary in the Korean Permanent Mission to the UN office and other international organisations in Geneva, Switzerland.
He subsequently served as Counsellor, Korean Embassy in the Republic of Ireland, Assistant Secretary in the Office of the President and Director, Economic Cooperation Division, International Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. In December 2009, he was named Counsellor in the Embassy in France and in June 2012, Minister-Counsellor, Korean Embassy in the Republic of The Philippines.
After meeting the Minister of External Relations, Najat Rochdi told the media that this visit was a routine one to discuss matters of common concern between the two sides such as sub-regional development and upcoming events. She added that it was also to get Prof. Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo’s views on UN activities in the country.
