Minister Tchiroma Bakary decries misinformation

Communication Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary says President Paul Biya and his wife Mrs Chantal Biya are in excellent state of health.

Refuting allegation by a French News papers, Le Monde that the presidential couple is out of Cameroon receiving treatment in Europe,Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary said the false information is a mark of mere lack of professionalism on the part of the newspaper. President Paul Biya and Mrs. Chantal Biya are on a private visit to Europe.

In yet another press conference granted over the weekend, the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary condemned false accusations against Cameroon by the Non Governmental Organization, RedHac. He decried misinformation spread by the NGO alleging acts torture and execution perpetrated in the Far North Region. He recalled the facts concerning the activities of the Cameroon army on insecurity.

He said administrative and legal measures have already been taken to shed light on the dead of some 15 inmates who died in detention at the Maroua Gendarmerie Legion.

The Minister insisted that while the judiciary is investigating the situation, that should not undermine the patriotic fight and sacrifices made by the defence forces to combat the terrorist sect Boko Haram that has been carrying out rapes, summary executions of men, women and children and brutal beheadings along the Cameroon – Nigeria border.

Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary called for more support to the Head of State Paul Biya, Commander in Chief of the Army and the defence forces in the fight against the national and global enemy, Boko Haram.
