Minister discusses press freedom with U.S. Ambassador

Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary has received in audience the U.S. Ambassador to Cameroon, Michael Stephen Hoza.

During the audience on Monday 17th November 2014, both parties discussed communication issues especially the recent arrest of three Cameroonian journalists who have been released.

Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary assured the US Envoy of Cameroon’s commitment to the implementation of press freedom.

The Communication boss further explained to Ambassador Michael Hoza that Cameroon while practicing popular defence, demands the public to furnish the security agencies, military and administrative authorities with relevant information where necessary.

H.E Micheal Hoza on his part, acknowledged the primordial place of communication in the Cameroon-American partnership, while noting that both countries have similar messages to communicate: the fight against the Boko Haram insurgence, Ebola and Poverty.
