Eight businessmen from Spain have expressed keen interest in the many investment opportunities in the country. The Spanish businessmen resultantly made a visit to the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Land use (Minepat) and Investment Promotion Agency Api.
Led by Ambassador of Spain in Cameroon, Marcelino Cabanas Ansorena, the investor group was first granted audience by the Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.
The meeting allowed them to get a general overview of the economic potential and the multiple assets the country has. "Cameroon is a business-friendly land. It offers a market of 24 million of local consumers and nearly 300 million from consumers of Cemac. Here, we promote free enterprise and the system in place allows us to secure private investment," said Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.
The Group that operate in the agro-industry, health, and the trading sectors have already targeted areas of investment to explore. They explained this saying, "We will create structures and transfer technology in areas such as agro-industry, the manufacture of drugs and fish processing," said Manuel Gonzalez, Director of a consortium of Spanish companies, head of delegation.
The second stage of this economic mission was a trip to Api. The Spanish investors took part in a seminar "Doing Business in Cameroon" during which they watched a documentary on the available investment opportunities.
This followed an exchange with Api and officials of the national fund for employment (Fne) on the benefits of the law on incentives to private investment and supply of labor.
