Minister receives new Korean Ambassador, UN System Coordinator

The Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo has received in audience the new Korean Ambassador to Cameroon, His Excellency Lim Jae-hoon and the Resident Representative of the United Nations System in Cameroon, Najat Rochdi.

The Minister granted the audiences on Monday, 10th November 2014 beginning with the new Korean Envoy who presented the advance copies of his Letters of Credence to Minister Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo.

The diplomat who is familiar with Cameroon having served as the Second Secretary in his country`s embassy in the country 1995, presented his determination to strengthen the friendly ties between Korea and Cameroon.

His Excellency Lim Jae-hoon with his rich diplomatic background and dynamism in languages expressed the need to transmit Korean technology specifically in the domains of education, trade and lifestyle.

Najat Rochdi on her part lauded the efforts of the Cameroonian security forces in quelling the insurgence of the Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram.

The United Nations Diplomat said UN activities are on a good foot as the organisation has already resettled some 170000 refugees in Mokolo in the Far North Region precisely in the Minawo refugee camp.

She also told the press that the meeting was a platform to evaluate the security situation in the Northern parts of Cameroon and come out with measures to revive the socio-economic aspects in the fragile North due frequent Boko Haram attacks.

She further thanked the government for opening their borders to refugees displaced in the Central African Republic and in Nigeria by the terrorist group, Boko Haram and their subsequent protection by the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR).

Minister Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo lauded the friendship existing between the UN, Korea and Cameroon.
