A Safe Driving Work-Team SDWT has been created by the Cameroon Oil Transportation Company Cotco, the Energy of Cameroon Eneo, Geodis of Projects Cameroon, and Emploi Service.

The body was created to boost the Ministry of Transport’s efforts in reducing road accidents in the country.

This explains why the initiators of the project have undertaken to work with Transporter’s Unions and other Road Safeties Organisation in sensitizing road users of the need to remain prudent.

Launching the initiative in Douala, the General Manager of Cotco Christian Lenoble was positive that if all stake holders of the sector work in synergy, accidents on Cameroon’s high ways could be brought down to the barest minimum.

The Deputy General Manager of Eneo Oumarou Hamandjoda on his part highlighted the need to associate drivers in the sensitisation campaigns.

According to competent authorities, 3500 accidents occur in Cameroon yearly, 82 percent of these accidents are caused by drivers.
