The Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo, yesterday, March 25, 2014 had separate audiences with the new Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Barbara McKinney Sow, the new Ambassador of the Central African Republic to Cameroon, Martial Beti Marace, a special envoy of the Chinese government in charge of African Affairs, Zhong Jianhua and the Ambassador of Turkey to Cameroon, Omer Faruk Dogan.
Barbara McKinney Sow, who replaces Alain Sibenaler as the new Representative of UNFPA to Cameroon presented her letters of introduction to Minister Moukoko Mbonjo. After the audience, she said that they discussed the priorities the UNFPA has identified in Cameroon in the areas of the reduction of maternal mortality, preparation of the youths and the population issues as they influence development. She said they will work in partnership and accompany government achieve national goals.
The new Ambassador of the Central African Republic to Cameroon, Martial Beti Marace presented advanced copies of his letters of credence to the Minister. The diplomat before his appointment was a lecturer in the Faculty of Judicial and Political Sciences in the University of Bangui since 2010.
The special envoy of the government of China in charge of African Affairs, Zhong Jianhua came to discuss the crisis rocking Africa especially the war in the Central African Republic and Mali. He said they were sharing experiences with African leaders in order to determine the type of help to give. The Chinese official and Minister Moukoko also discussed issues of bilateral relations especially the reciprocal protection of investments.
Ambassador Omer Faruk Dogan used his audience to review what has been done in implementing cooperation agreements since President Paul Biya visited Turkey a year ago. He promised the contribution of Turkish enterprises to Cameroon's emergence in the areas of infrastructure, roads, and energy.
