A resident of Fotokol has found at that, when the Cameroonian mobile telephony network is stable, fighters increased attacks from the locality of Gambarou in Nigeria. However, when there is leakage of network, Fotokol is at peace. To significantly reduce attacks, the network has been blurred and the sale of SIM cards prohibited.

The Government in Abuja by declaring the State of emergency in the three States in northeastern Nigeria had taken a number of measures amongst which is the estrangement of the mobile telephony network.

He said the estrangement of the network had not only hindered the activities in those States but had also and especially perturbed the coordination of attacks by Islamists of the Boko Haram sect.

Veterans of the Boko Haram sect use the Cameroonian network to coordinate attacks and other operations. Struck by this lack of the telephone network, the Islamists decided to make use of the Cameroonian network which extends in some Nigerian cities located throughout the border.
