A four-day vaccination campaign against measles is on-going in Douala.
The campaign which started on 16th November 2014 targets children from 9 months to 5 years.
The vaccination exercise which is expected to end on 19th November 2014 is being carried out in schools, markets, railway stations and other public places.
Before the commencement of the vaccination exercise at the Nylon Health District in Douala, health officials embarked on preparing the kids psychologically.
In this regard, a representative of the Ministry of Public Health Dr. Grace Alake Mbambole called on parents to prepare to vaccinate their children free of charge against the contagious disease.
During the campaign exercise, four cases of measles were confirmed with 40 suspected cases at the Nylon neighbourhood.
Measles is a deadly and contagious disease which is characterised by fever, cough, and nasal blockages.
The campaign has been organised by the Ministry of Public Health in partnership with UNICEF, the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Lion’s Club International.
