According to Rene Claude Meka, chief of staff of the armed forces who was recently on a working visit in the far North of the country, things are being put in place to ensure that calm and serenity returns to the region. "I have been in the North since Friday, August 1st to monitor how things are going.

I held meetings with various officials. I went on the field to meet men to discuss pertinent security issues. At the moment, I can promise things will be better in the near future as our men have been mobilised” noted Rene Claude Meka.

“Regarding the abductees, we have not yet had at the moment specific information about them. But we continue our search to find them. Regarding the morale of troops on the ground, I would say that they have been remobilized and we will see what they are capable of in the near future." He added
