U.S. firm Motorola Solutions has offered to provide Cameroon with high-tech public security equipment to monitor the country’s cities, an official source told APA on Friday.
Dubbed 'Safer Cities', the technologies are meant to connect police officers, the center against crime operating on real time, the next generation of patrol vehicles and the integrated multimedia communication center.
Motorola Solutions, which prides itself on its expertise in this area, as well as its presence in different African cities, proposes an integrated command and control system, which allows security forces to proactively and efficiently handle complex situations, and CCTV systems that help share information in real time with persons concerned.
Pending the local authorities’ response, a private company, with the backing of the police has been developing for the past semester at sensitive places in the nation’s capital Yaoundé, a remote monitoring network connected to a central service, which is yet to come into operation.
