Cameroon film producer, Tabe Enow Tanjong through the film, has sensitises parents on how to handle teenage pregnancy.

Tchanga and Inoma! These names still ring a bell in the minds of those who attended primary school in the Anglophone zones in the early 1970s.

“Tchanga and Inoma” was that Primary School story book used in those days that revealed two characters Tchanga (fat) and Inoma (slim). But the latest film produced by Tabe Enow Tanjong titled “Tchanga and Inoma” is far from what pupils learned from their primary school story books.

The film “Tchanga and Inoma” is about two teenage girls impregnated by their student teachers.

It was premiered in Yaounde on June 18, 2016 and will be premiere in Mamfe, South West Region on July 2, 2016.

Tchanga and Inoma are close friends and classmates who come from different family backgrounds. lnoma is from a wealthy family and Tchanga from a poor family. Both girls are impregnated by their student teachers.

Donald (Enow Tanjong) impregnates Inoma while Peter (Ebini Edwi) impregnates Tchanga. Inoma is forced out of home by her father against her mother’s wish because her father cannot stand the disgrace that would erode the pride of his family.

Tchanga, on the other hand, is bitterly castigated by her parents for such a shameful act; they however, finally accepted her. She goes back to school after having her baby.

The producer says he came up with such a film after a research on teenage mothers in Manyu Division where he hails.

Research findings revealed that 80 per cent of victims drop out of school after having their babies and left by their parents to fend for themselves and their babies. “By so doing, their future ends in a shamble”, Tabe Enow Tanjong explained.

Through the film the producer and the director, Musing Derick Tenn, are out to sensitise the population, especially parents, on how the social ill, teenage pregnancy, should be handled without disrupting the dreams of the victims. The film, which was shot in Mamfe, South West Region, features mostly Cameroonian actors and actresses.
