Mrs. Eva Jacqueline Elangué appointed new SG of CNDHL

Mrs. Elangué, née Eva Jacqueline Etongué Mayer was installed on Friday in Yaoundé. During her installation to her new function as the new Secretary-General of the National Commission of human rights and freedoms (CNDHL), the president of the CNDHL, Chemuta Divine Banda praised her for her sense of responsibility toward her job, her selflessness, dedication to the task and her sense of respect for values. Mrs. Elangué Elangué was appointed by Presidential Decree on November 7, 2014.

Divine Banda urged her to continue to rely on these for the cause of human rights in Cameroon. Good to know, in accordance with the law of 22nd July 2004 on the establishment, organization and functioning of the CNDHL and its implementing Decree of 7 July 2005, the Commission has a permanent secretariat.

Placed under the authority of a Secretary-General who has the rank and prerogatives of Secretary-General of Ministry, the permanent Secretary is responsible for prosecuting cases of the Commission; to coordinate the activities of the structures of the Commission; to ensure training and recycling of the staff of the Commission; to prepare the records for the meetings of the Commission; to develop and monitor the implementation of the budget; perform all other missions which are entrusted by the president.

Born April 10, 1970 in Nkongsamba, Ms. Elangué hails from Melong. She holds a master's degree in human rights and humanitarian action in the Catholic University of Central Africa. Recruited to the CNDHL on 25th February 2002, the new SG was until her appointment head of division on the Promotion and Protection of human rights in this institution.
