The Vision 4 TV channel did not escape the sanctions of the NCC, with its TV Show entitled “Sans tabou“.
This program, in its edition of February 25, 2016, allegedly made “unfounded remarks likely to undermine Islam, its holy book the Qur’an and the whole of national Muslim community“. Its presenter, Nathan Homer Amougou, and the Show shall be suspended for six months.
According to 237online.com, on March 3, 2016, the CNC received a correspondence from Mr. Issa Tchiroma Bakary, Minister of Communication, about the broadcast on the television channel “Vision 4” and the correspondence was about unfounded remarks against the Koran and Islam. The excerpts below were selected to overwhelm the channel and its Managing Editor.
“The Koran is an imaginary book… The Quran is not the word of God because this Quran … can not provide certainty of salvation … The Quran is a plagiarism of the Bible … In the Koran there are surahs who ask to kill Christians …
Whoever is behind Islam has nothing to do with God … There is a part of the writings of the Koran that are satanic … Islam was founded by blood … continue to gain ground by blood and that’s what the flag of Saudi Arabia and Boko Haram teach.“
Based on the edition of February 25, 2016 the show called “Sans tabou“, broadcasted on the television channel “Vision 4” and presented by Mr. Amougou Nathan Homer, Issa Tchiroma indicates that panelists emitted between 9:57 PM and 11:04 p.m. unfounded issues likely to undermine Islam, its holy book the Koran and the national whole entire Muslim community.
Recalling the responsibility of the presenters in the choice of guests and conduct of television which they are responsible; Noting the violence and severity of language drift about offending; Anxious to fulfill its role to “ensure social peace, unity and national integration in all media”; the CNC confirmed the responsibility of the publishing director of “Vision 4 ‘ who thereby receives a warning.
Also, the CNC separately suspended for six (6) months the program “Sans tabou” and presenter Mr. Amougou Nathan Homer from the exercise of the profession of journalism in Cameroon due to misconduct, violations of ethics and professional ethics in social communication.
