Cameroon's National Audiovisual Syndicate (SYNAVCAM) has organised the ninth edition of the National Audiovisual Week in Yaounde under the theme, "Digital Radio and Television: Technological, Economic and Cultural Stakes of the Transfer."

The Inspector General at the Ministry of Communication (MINCOM), Albert Mbida who represented the Minister launched the event which is scheduled to run from Tuesday 3rd to Sunday 7th December 2014.

The President of SYNAVCAM, Henri Fotso says the forum is to sensitise communicators, audiovisual media owners and the public on the importance of embracing digitalisation and possible stakes due to failure in adopting the new system.

The MINCOM Inspector General, Albert Mbida on his part, noted that the switch over will multiply broadcast channels leading to the need for an increased number of programmes.

With this in mind, he hopes the event will enlighten owners of media organs and prepare them towards a successful switch over from analogue to digital broadcasting in 2015.
