Ndjamena, Niamey pay tribute to soldiers killed by Boko Haram

The Chadian State leader, Idriss Deby, personally hosted at Ndjamena airport the bodies of the Chadian soldiers killed in Cameroon and Nigeria. There has however not been any condolence messages sent to victims of Fotokol until now.

17 Chadian soldiers killed during clashes with fighters of the Islamist sect Boko Haram in Fotokol Gambaru in Nigeria and Cameroon, were buried on Friday at the military cemetery of Ndjamena. Before their burial, 17 soldiers from the Chadian army were decorated posthumously by the head of the Chadian Government, Kalzeube Payimi Deubet.

In Niger, a strong Nigerian Government delegation visited Diffa Saturday, February 7, 2015 where several families have been bereaved. That delegation did not only render the tribute to the victims and their families, but partook in their burials.

In Cameroon, Yaoundé is limited to take stock of the attack of Fotokol. No member of the Government visited in the far north to pay tribute to the victims and their families. The Minister of defence remained insensitive to the Cameroonian soldiers killed by the Islamists.

Nevertheless, the so-called "patriotic" marches were held in all ten regions. Marches that are far from boosting the morale of the soldiers at the front for several months.
