Ndokoti is a neighborhood which just the name was like poison to the ears of taxi drivers and some commuters. This is because of the traffic congestion which used to occur in the quarter. But in a bid to keep clean the town, the Douala City Council has embarked on certain projects to keep Douala clean and prevent floods which used to be a serious problem in some neighborhoods. Circulation in Ndokoti especially at the level of the roundabout has become very easy because the traders who used to block the roads such that there were difficulties in circulation have left the places they occupied. To make matters better, the CUD with its partner HYSACAM are carrying out a cleanup in Ndokoti.

Circulation in Ndokoti especially at the level of the roundabout has become very easy because the traders who used to block the roads such that there were difficulties in circulation have left the places they occupied. To make matters better, the CUD with its partner HYSACAM are carrying out a cleanup in Ndokoti. Since July 3, SECA which is a branch in HYSACAM in charge of liquid waste, biological treatment of dirt, hydrocarbon treatment, are cleaning the blocked gutters to permit free circulation of water. Now that the rains have become more serious it is necessary for blocked gutters to be opened to prevent flood. Talking to the engineer in charge, Djieumeni Jean-Victoire, he said they are carrying out the task of cleaning and drainage at the roundabout in Ndokoti and by the end of this week they have to be through with Ndokoti. The workers sent a large tube into the under pass gutter to suck out water and dirt, so as to prevent standing water on the road and in potholes. So far the areas which have been drained are dry in spite of the rain, because water does not remain in potholes, but flows easily. This dirt and mud removed from the gutters is carried by a truck and emptied at the plunk in Nyalla to prevent the rain from pushing it back to the gutters. The engineer said they have removed more than 200tonnes of mud from the Ndokoti roundabout.
