"Nestlé Healthy Kids Global Programme" is the name of the nutrition education programme launched by Nestlé in all countries where the Swiss agro-foods company has operations.

In Cameroon, it was launched at a press conference on May 23. In October last year ahead of the launching, the Ministry of Health and Education programme, chose 10 pilot schools in the country to raise student awareness about the benefits of athletic activity and healthy, balanced nutrition.

According to Nestlé Cameroon heads, a total of 1,400 students have been exposed, while 75 teachers have been trained thanks to the manuals trained by Nestlé. The overall cost of the operation is 55 million FCfa.

In 2014, the Nestlé firm plans to raise awareness among 1,200 new students in 10 new Cameroonian schools, which will bring the total number of students that have benefitted from the nutrition education programme to 2,600 in two years. The programme’s ultimate goal is to reach 36,000 students in Cameroon.

Ultimately, stated personnel at Nestlé Cameroon, it is not inconceivable to have this training programme incorporated into primary school programmes in order to contribute as early as possible to the training of a population that is aware of the importance of the quality and quantity of food to health and well-being.
