Stakeholders in the North West have been urged to look up to the Public Contracts Regulatory Agency (ARMP) not as an as an adversary but as an adviser at the service of the nation to improve governance. The event was the commissioning of Mounom Mbong Wol as the new North West Regional Branch Manager of ARMP.
It is on the strength of the ARMP General Manager's 14th September 2012 decision that the 30-year old and father of two will henceforth chart the way forward for the Public Contracts Regulatory Agency in the North West Region. It emerged from the event that objectivity and transparency in the sector are key words to take good governance forward in public contracts. It was against this backdrop that the Inspector General in the Governor's office, Makoge Charles challenged Mounom Mbong Wol to denounce corruption. He encouraged the new branch manager to employ tact and ensure the rigorous management of public finances invested in the contracts sector. He stressed the respect of norms so that quality should be reflected in investment projects. Mounom Mbong Wol also has the challenge to take the Public Contracts Regulatory Agency closer to actors in the Region.
The Representative of the General Manager of the Public Contracts Regulatory Agency who travelled from Yaounde for the event, Mbeutcha Thomas said ARMP was created in 2001 to follow up, facilitate and evaluate projects. He said Mounom Wol is an expert with a long experience in the sector which makes him a comprehensive insurance for success. He disclosed that the Public Contracts Regulatory Agency has in the first semester of 2012, handled 49 contracts worth FCFA 1.9 billion in the North West Region.
