New Ndian SDO ordered to check Boko Haram

The new Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Ndian, Ntou’ou Ndong Chamberlin, has been cautioned to have a sleepless night and wage war against the Nigerian dreaded Muslim sect Boko Haram that has for the past months been making headline news in Cameroon through their activities.

The call was made by the governor of the South West Region Bernard Okalai Bilai, while installing the 20th SDO for Ndian.


The event took place at the Mundemba grandstand on Saturday and was witnessed amongst others by former Delegate General of National security Emmanuel Edou, the IGM of PAMOL,Mekanya Charles, the Board Chairman of PAMOL, HRH Chief Isoh Itoh, all the D.O’s and Mayors of the nine sub Divisions that make up Ndian Division.


The governor reminded the new Ndian Boss that he has been commissioned as the SDO for Water and Land, especially as the area is a maritime zone. As supervisory Authority, the SDO was equally called to assist the Mayors realise the loft dream of transforming their respective municipalities especially in line with the Communal Development Plan as prescribed by Law and make sure that no Mayor is resident outside his council area.


While reminding the SDO on his duties as stated in the decree of 2008, the Governor urged the new SDO of his duties of representing the state in all circumstances, follow up the execution of projects in the area, launch a merciless war against criminality especially as the area is a maritime zone, protect persons and property, fight against illegal immigration and fire arm especially as the zone shares a common boundary with Nigeria, ensure that there is peaceful coexistent amongst the people in the zone and do much in making the area attractive to shareholders and economic operators.


To the outgoing SDO who served just 20 months in the area, he was credited for having overseen the peaceful handing over of the Bakassi Peninsular, the constant check of the population on security concerns.

Earlier on, the Mayor of Mundemba, Iselle Elisabeth Bekomba, in her welcome speech, while giving a vivid location of Ndian Division regretted that the zone is plagued with a lot of challenges. She mentioned the deplorable state of roads, and the absence of CRTV signals despite the giant antennas seen everywhere in the Zone.


However, she thanked the government for the FCFA 4billion Kumba -Mundemba-Akwa- road maintenance programme that is currently going on. To the outgoing SDO, the Mayor wished him well in his new assignment in the Mayo Sava Division and hailed him for having contributed much in the transformation of the area. Traditional dances graced the occasion.


37-year-old Ntou’ou Ndong Chamberlin who was appointed by a Presidential Decree No 2014/186 of 04/06/2014 was born in Onaze, in the Ntem Valley Division of the South Region. He did his secondary Education in Lycee de Bankomo and latter bagged a BA in Economics and Business Management from the University of Yaounde II SOA and a post graduate Diploma from the same field.


He graduated from ENAM in 2006 and started as a support staff in MINATD and was to later serve as Project Coordinator in the Prime Minister Office. From 2007 to 2011 he was the Chief of Cabinet in the South Region Governor’s office and 2012 the Head of State bestowed him the Confidence to serve in the Nkam Division as a D.O and later as D.O for the Ebolowa I Sub Divisional Council in 2013.


He is married and a father of 4.
