The police force in the Littoral Region has been edified on the import of reorganisation of the corps. The Secretary General at the General Delegation for National Security, Victor Ndocki, who was accompanied to Douala by law enforcement officers of various echelons, re-made an inventory of the 14 decrees and 1 arête recently passed by the Head of State reorganising the sector and instituting certain innovations within the corps.
In his introduction he said the objective of his visit, like in other regions of the country, is to clarify the dispositions of the Presidential texts, underline their importance and expectations.
The mammoth turnout of police chiefs and officers of the region at the Party House in Bonanjo and the exchanges that followed signaled their strong desire for implementation of the changes. Addressing their questions, the Secretary General told them that the time was up for better working conditions, especially with the provision to set up police hospitals, a National Advanced School of Police and the increase in the retirement age of police constables and from 50 to 55 years, and Assistant Superintendents from 55 to 60 years. The texts also cancel the recruitment retired police.
