New UNESCO Representative in Minrex

The Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo last Friday January 3, 2014 received the letter of introduction from the new Resident Representative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Félix Loiteohin who doubles as the Director of Multisectoral Regional Office for Central Africa.

Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo and Félix Loiteohin in the course of discussions reviewed ties between UNESCO and Cameroon which they described as dynamic and mutually beneficial.

The new UNSECO boss to Cameroon noted with satisfaction cooperation between his organization and Cameroon, praising the works of First Lady Chantal Biya for the five years running as UNSECO Goodwill Ambassador. Félix Loiteohin Ye noted with satisfaction the cooperation balance sheet between UNESCO and Cameroon in the domains of elementary, secondary and higher education and that of science, technology and environmental protection.

It was revealed that what used to hold as sub-regional bureau of UNESCO for Central Africa with competence on three countries has since 2012 become a Multisectoral Regional Office for Central Africa with residence in Yaounde, Cameroon, covering ten countries namely, Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, the Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sao Tome and Principe and Chad.

Félix Loiteohin Ye from Burkina Faso replaces Benoît Sosso from Benin who served in Cameroon for four years.
