New Vehicles to Enhance Cooperative Work

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER) has handed over four-wheel drive vehicles to some cooperative movements from the West, North West and South West Regions of the country to enhance the production and sale of cocoa and coffee.

Essimi Menye handed over the gifts to representatives of the Central Union for West Regional Agricultural Cooperative Movements (UCCAO), North West Cooperative Association Ltd (NWCA) and South West Farmers' Cooperative Union Ltd (SOWEFCU) on the courtyard of MINADER last Thursday June 6, 2013.

The vehicles fell within the framework of the Cocoa/Coffee Support Project for the Production and Diffusion of the Planting Material piloted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in partnership with the Cocoa and Coffee Sub Sectors Development Fund (FODECC). The beneficiary cooperative unions are executing agencies of the project and the vehicles were in line with the technical and financial plan of the project's first phase.

From Minister Essimi Menye, through the Minister Delegate in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in charge of Rural Development, Clementine Ananga Messina, to the Secretary General in MINADER, Jean-Claude Eko'o Akouafane, who both took turns to hand over the keys of the vehicles to the beneficiaries, the message was the same-Use the vehicles judiciously so as to achieve the objectives of the programme in line with the second-generation agriculture being pursued by government.
