The Government is putting in place a new identification security system that will enable Cameroonians to have not more than one identity card.

An agreement to that effect was signed this 31st August 2015 on behalf of Government by the Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguele, while Trojani Frederick, Director General of GEMALTO signed on behalf of his institution.

The agreement with the company that is specialised in the establishment of security systems will ensure the production of new national ID cards, residence permits and other security documents that will be difficult to falsify.

The system that entails the production of new national ID cards, residence permits, refugee cards and professional cards for some public structures will be totally different.

The Delegate for National Security and the Director General of GEMALTO are confident that the new cards made of poly-carbon material will give a new digital dimension to identification documents in Cameroon.
