Nexttel gets 400,000 subscribers in 4 months

Jean Pierre Biyiti bi Essam, the Minister of posts and Telecommunications, said that Nexttel mobile telephony operator, exclusive holder of 3G, already has gathered 400,000 subscribers since the launch of its activities on September 18, 2014.

The company that charges 54 francs Cfa per minute on its network and 66 Cfa francs to other networks, multiplied its promotions and bonuses which broke down the cost of calls on its network and across networks for less than 50 Cfa francs.


The Minister of posts and Telecommunications revealed this information on 2nd December 2014 at the National Assembly. He presented to members the achievements of the Department under his control through the year 2014, with its budget of 12.7 billion Cfa francs (nearly US $ 24 million).

Jean Pierre Biyiti bi Essam, before the Committee on finance and budget, also defended his draft budget for the year 2015, which amount to 13,673 billion Cfa francs ($25.6 million), an increase of 914 million francs Cfa ($1.7 million) from 2014.


With this new budget, the Minister of posts and telecommunications would "consolidate the actions undertaken in 2014, to stimulate and accelerate growth, in the country in its March towards emergence in 2035", said Jean Pierre Biyiti bi Essam.
