The Honorary Consul of Niger in Cameroon, Abdoul Mohamed, has described as ground-breaking the resolutions arrived at in Yaounde during the June 24-25 Heads of State and Government Summit on maritime safety and security in the Gulf of Guinea. Addressing his compatriots in Cameroon during an evaluation meeting on Saturday June 28, the Honorary Consul praised them for what he described as the warm reception given Niger's President, Mahamadou Isoufou on arrival, during his stay and departure from Cameroon.

He told them that the President was amazed with his participation at the summit; the resolutions arrived at, the commitment of his peers to combat maritime criminality in the region and better still the cordial reception given him by his citizens resident in Cameroon.

While presenting the President's message of appreciation to the population, the Honorary Consul praised them for coming out like one person to contribute in their own way to the success of the Yaounde summit. It is worth noting that a huge number of Niger citizens converged on the airport to welcome President Mahamadou Isoufou and did same, shaking hands with him on departure.

"On behalf of President Mahamadou Isoufou, we want to express our sincere thanks to President Paul Biya of Cameroon, his entire government and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of this summit. I pray that this concertation should also reinforce the cordial bilateral ties existing between Cameroon and Niger," Abdoul Mohamed said. While urging his compatriots to be law-abiding, the Honorary Consul promised to leave nothing to chance to solidify relations between his country and Cameroon.
