Niger Seeks Cameroon's Support

President Mahamadou Issoufou's envoy on Monday handed the message to the Prime Minister.

A special envoy of the President of Niger, Mahamadou Issoufou, on Monday, February 18, 2013 handed over a sealed message to the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang for forwarding to President Paul Biya.

The envoy, Salifou Labo Bouche, who is Niger's Minister of Communication and New Information Technologies, was received at the Star Building, Yaounde in the presence of Niger's Honorary Consul to Cameroon, Abdoul Mohamed and Cameroon's Minister of Youth and Civic Education, Bidoung Mpkatt. The special envoy used the occasion to invite Cameroon to attend the 43-member Conference of Ministers of Youths and Sports, CONFEJES, that will hold in Niger from March 4 to 8, 2013.

He also solicited Cameroon's support for its candidate to the post of President of the Conference of Ministers of Youths and Sports. Salifou Labo Bouche told the press that the Prime Minister assured him the matter will be examined and he hopes for a positive response.

The Niger minister also lauded bilateral relations between Cameroon and his country. He expressed hope that relations will be further strengthened when his country's proposed oil pipeline eventually passes through Cameroon. He disclosed that the project was on course and country's officials will at the right moment finalise the file with the Cameroon government.
