Nigeria has vowed to continue respecting the sovereignty of neighbouring Cameroon.

Speaking at the opening of the recently held Nigeria/Cameroon Trans-Border Security Committee holding, President Goodluck Jonathan's security adviser retired Col. Sambo Dasuki, said his country has no territorial ambition over the disputed Bakassi Peninsula.

"I wish to expressly say that the resolution on the Bakassi Peninsula issue is a clear indication to this" Dasuki said. Adding that, Nigeria was more interested in Cameroon's contribution to defeating Boko Haram.

He said the security meeting held in Paris on May 17 and London on June 4, under the auspices of the leadership of both countries underscored the need for cooperation between the two countries.

He said Nigeria was deeply committed to development, peace, security and stability in Africa particularly in neighbouring states.

"It is a cardinal point of our foreign policy that can be attested to and the peaceful manner in which we relate to all our members" he added.
