About 9 Cameroonians were recently abducted at Garoua-Boulaï. The defence forces have however succeeded in freeing four of them, on 25 October but the other five are still in captivity.

Unidentified gunmen based in the Central African Republic (CAR), have once more conducted an act of kidnapping. They took nine Cameroonians hostage on 24th and 25th October 2014 in Garoua-Boulai, capital of the eponymous district, located 250 km from Bertoua, capital of the Eastern region.

According to facts, corroborated by police sources, this kidnapping took place in two stages in the localities of Yokosire and Dolé, 6 and 11 km respectively from Garoua-Boulaï. The first sequence took place 24th October where the populations of the village Dole noted the disappearance of their village chief.

The son of the village chief gave the alert, announcing that his father, who went to the fields in the early hours of the day had not returned at 4 p.m. The second sequence took place in the night of 24th-25th October, in the village of Yokosire. "This happened around 4 o'clock in the morning. They blocked the road and two trucks fell into the trap: one from the North and the other from the coast. The coastal truck was carrying mineral water for the Minusca forces, in the CAR," revealed our source. Two truck drivers and their ‘motor-boys’ were then taken hostage.

On their way back into their hiding place, these kidnappers abducted three others. The ninth person was a shepherd they captured during their retreat in Central African territory.

"Once alerted, our defense forces engaged a response to free these hostages. After the clash with the kidnappers, four hostages were released. The other five are still in captivity", revealed the Governor of the region of the East, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, before adding that defense forces will be strongly mobilized to release all hostages.
