The Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, has held discussions with traders of high consumer goods.

The meeting was organized to seek ways of cushioning the spillover effects of the increase in the prices of fuel and domestic gaz.

Due to the fact that some business person have the propensity to engage in artificial scarcity and price increase using the high price of petroleum products as a pretext, the Minister convened the routine quarterly meeting mainly to caution the business person against such malpractice.

During discussions, Luc Magloire Atangana Mbarga emphasized on the need to preserve the current prices of basic commodities like cooking oil, rice and fish.

He argued that the recent increase in the price of fuel and gas does not have a great impact on the cost price of these commodities.

At the end of the meeting, the business men and women promised to be on the vanguard and to identify any unscrupulous dealer who shall use the current situation for selfish gains.

Minister Magloire Luc Mbarga Atangana at the end of discussions noted with satisfaction that whole sellers and retailers have pledge to protect consumers.
