Northern Cameroon mobilizes against Boko Haram

President of the National Assembly of Cameroon Cavaye Yeguie Djibril chaired last Friday in Maroua ( about 1500 km north of Yaoundé), a meeting of citizens of the northern region regularly targeted by acts of the Islamic sect Boko Haram, according to national radio.

President of the National Assembly asked his siblings to block the way to this sect. He asked that awareness should be strengthened in all social strata to draw attention to the dangers posed by Boko Haram to Cameroonians.


It was decided during the meeting, which was attended by the Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguelle, the Secretary of State for Defense in charge of the Gendarmerie, Jean- Baptiste Bokam, Ministers, CEOs and Central Administration of the region, creating a small cell monitoring recommendations.


For fear of an unexpected attack of the Islamic sect, the foundation took place under high security with three metal detector positions that had to be cross before entering the meeting room.

Recall that, as recent events in the northern region of Cameroon exactions, Boka Haram terrorist group based in northern Nigeria, kidnapped two Italian priests and a Canadian nun near Maroua, attacked a gendarmerie in Kousseri killing the commander of the brigade and kidnapped ten Chinese workers on a construction site.


The sect also carried out an attack in Kolofata, near Maroua last Thursday.
