Northern region flood leaves 2 dead, 800 homeless

At least two people were killed in the floods which occurred in the northern part of Cameroon leaving more than 800 homeless in Garoua (North).

This situation is difficult especially as the weather announces significant rainfall in this semi-desert region which often faces stifling heat for over ten months.

In response to this catastrophe, authorities have temporarily stationed victims in schools till some quick alternatives have been made since schools have re-opened.

The prefect of the Benue (Garoua Mamoudou Mallam indicates that" the situation is worrying ", especially as the appearance of cholera epidemic has been reported in the area, with 20 death cases already reported.

In addition to Governments, humanitarian organizations like the Red Cross, the Red Crescent have brought disaster assistance, while the victims are trying to rebuild their homes.
