Nsobati Women’s Association clocks 20

The executive bureau members were commissioned into function on Sunday June 19, 2016, during a cultural event at the Nso Community Hall in Simbock, Yaounde.

The installation was part of celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Nsobati Women’s Association on the theme “The journey, not the Destination”.

The celebrations took place under the Patronage of HRH the Fon of Nso, Shem Mbinglo III.

The anniversary celebrations began with a thanks giving mass at the same venue. In his homily, the Parish Pastor of the St. Peter and Paul Parish Simbock, Rev. Fr. Gilles Ngwa Forteh said the occasion was an opportunity to give thanks to God for the 20 years of existence of the association.

He said the 20th anniversary celebration is an occasion for an impartial evaluation in order to chart a new course for the future.

He said it was also a time for reconciliation and to keep away from gossips, division, greed and discrimination for the group to grow.

He exhorted them to stay close to God, preserve communion with God with his son Jesus Christ and to be at the service of each other.

The event got to its climax with the arrival of the Fon of Nso HRH Fon Shem Minglo III who as was welcomed by traditional dances and songs by the people of Nso.

The outgoing president of the association, Dr. Martina Baye said during last mandate the association had made major achievements such as the construction of the Nso Community hall, humanitarian activities and economic empowerment of women.

The new President of Nsobati Women’s Association, Bimela Gladys said the major priorities will be training programmes for women development projects for the Nso community in Yaounde at home.

The event was also an opportunity for the Nsobati women to showcase their culture through cultural dances and food exhibitions.

The day ended with a clarion call for the women of Nsobati Women’s Association to be united in order for the group to grow from strength to strength.

The Nsobati Women’s Association now has five regional bureaus notably in the Centre, Littoral, South West and North West with head quarters in Kumbo in the Bui Division.
