OHADA holds 37th meeting in Yaounde

Experts of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa, known by its French acronym OHADA, are currently meeting in Yaounde in prelude to the 37th meeting of Council of Ministers of OHADA scheduled for 29th and 30th January 2015, in Yaounde.

The gathering was formally declared open by the Secretary General in the Ministry of Justice, George Gwanmesia.

Experts in Cameroon who have been meeting since 26th till the 28th January 2015, just a day to the D-day have discussed and will be deliberating on issues that concern ground works to the meeting and the functioning of the institution.

Concerning the event, Secretary General in the Ministry of Justice, George Gwanmesia exhorted a cross-section of experts to facilitate deliberations of the Council of Ministers, taking into consideration the financial crisis faced by the organization.

Gaston Kenfack Douajni, who also doubles as the Director of Legislation in the Ministry of Justice, noted during the meeting that the expert meeting is essentially on the 2015 budget of the organization and the enactment of a new regulation concerning the staff situation.

The experts will also examine the financial situation of the organization, especially on how to boost contributions by member countries.

By the words of the Permanent Secretary of the organization, Professor Dorothé Sossa, OHADA’s 22 years of existence has greatly improved the business climate in the seventeen member countries.

It is worth noting that Cameroon’s Minister Delegate to the Minister of Justice, Jean-Pierre Fogui, was elected in early 2014 as the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of OHADA.
