Ouli sub-prefect escapes abduction by CAR rebels

The residence of the sub-prefect of Ouli, capital of the District of Mbotoro, in the Kadey, was recently attacked. The public press reported Wednesday that the sub-prefect of the town of Ouli, escaped a kidnapping attempt by some rebels from Central Africa.

According to reports, the assailants launched an attack on the gendarmerie brigade at Ouli and the residence of the sub-prefect of the town but they faced massive resistance from the local defence forces.

The prefect of the Kadey, Emmanuel Halpha, assured all that the situation has been brought under control as cited in Cameroon Tribune.

According to the explanations given in the public press, the town of Ouli, border with the Central African Republic, is located more than 110 kilometres from Batouri, capital of the Kadey which is over 200 kilometres from Bertoua, capital of the eastern region.
