More than 100,000 records had already been presented at the Cameroonian Ministry of public service as of Thursday morning which happens to be a week from the deadline of the receipt of tenders relating to the recruitment of 3,500 employees.

"This figure could double by a weeks time, considering the applications we have received so far from the services of the 53 prefectures in the country," said an official.

He explained challenges candidates face when presenting records in order to avoid last minute rush.

The various sectors covered by these job offers, range from Social Affairs to agriculture through customs, livestock, civil engineering, geology or accounting matters. He indicated that looking for jobs clearly show the extent of unemployment in the country, especially among young people.

According to a report of the national Institute of statistics (INS) dated June 2011, "even if the unemployment rate as fineded by the international Labour Office (ILO) remains seemingly low but this is not entirely true as there is an overall underemployment (a kind of disguised employment) which covers more than 70% of people in activity.
