Central African nationals in the country have returned to school January 5, beginning of the 2nd term. These resulted from efforts made by the Cameroonian Government, with the support of partners such as UNICEF, UNHCR, Plan, when granted permission to enrol Central African refugees children to receive education and also to have quality training in the various institutions in the eastern region.

Hermann Oba Biya noted that, in their area, 2,216 refugee children have been enrolled in schools. These numbers do not account for those who are in other institutions out of these communities.

They were deemed suitable to undergo educational advancement in the formal school system, after going through technical testing. Their education takes place in what is called in this context, steps.

"A step is a temporary space for learning and protection of children, including refugees. Each site has approximately 16", explained Hermann Oba Biya.
