Cameroon today July 11, 2016, joins the rest of the World to celebrate the 129th edition World Population Day under the Theme: “Investing in teenagers.”

Commemorative activities marking the celebration will be launched in Ngaoundere the Adamaoua Region by the Minister of Economy Planning and Regional Development Louis Paul Motaze.

Talking about the choice of this years’ theme, the UN representative of the National Population Fund told reporters that it is important to invest in teenagers so to equip them with the necessary tools needed for fulfilling the 2035 Economic Vision.

One of the measures being put in place is to encourage parents to send their children to school. By so doing, government is also putting all that it takes to discourage early marriage for teenagers especially among nationals of the Northern part of the Country.

According to official statistics, 47% of Cameroonian Population falls within the age of 10 to 34, 73% of the above mentioned age range still under parental care.

The latest UN estimate of Cameroon’s current population this 2016 is twenty three Million, nine hundred and thirty-three thousand, thirty six people. (23,933,036).
