The 2014 session of examinations organised by the Cameroon General Certificate Board (GCE) has entered the last but one phase as examiners drawn from schools across the country Monday June 30, 2014 began correcting scripts of both the Ordinary and Advanced Levels candidates.

Prior to Monday’s debut, the 6,500 examiners were sent invitation letters indicating their marking centres and the duration of the exercise.

According to the Registration of the GCE Board, Sir Humphrey Ekema Monono, 3,200 examiners have been deployed to the Bamenda marking centre while 3,300 are marking in Buea.

He said the marking exercise which started fully June 30, is going to last for a maximum of ten days.

Meanwhile, some 3,600 young Cameroonians were also offered temporal jobs to work at the examination Secretariats in the Bamenda and Buea marking centres.

According to the Board, Ordinary level examiners are expected to correct 275 scripts which gives an average of between 20-25 per day while Advanced level examiners have an average of 15-20 scripts per day.

An atmosphere of serenity reigned at the marking centres CT visited in Buea on Monday morning as examiners were busy registering their presence and fulfilling other procedure before trail marking and marking proper gets into full gear.

It should be recalled that some 164,789 candidates took part in this year’s session of examinations organised by the GCE Board with an increment of about 9 percent which necessitated an increment of the number of examiners from 6000 in 2013 to 6500 this year.
