P and T Minister Urges Better IT Accessibility

Jean-Pierre Biyiti bi Essam presided over the installation of new officials on Tuesday.

The premises of the Yaounde Conference Centre were exceptionally busy on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Jean-Pierre Biyiti bi Essam commissioned new officials of his ministry.

Minister Jean-Pierre Biyiti bi Essam said the appointments come on the heels of a new organisational chart for the ministry which has innovations. He reminded the newly appointed to put into use their experience, expertise and know-how so that the hinterland, border zones and remote areas are connected through multi-purpose community tele-centres.

It is also in the hope that optical fibre will reach all homes, Internet will be more accessible to the public and that governance and security of cyberspace will continue to occupy an important place in the ministry, among others. The Minister called on them to conform to the ethics of the Public Service and to work hard in their new assignments. To attain the level, he called on the new officials to show proof of good governance, patriotism, loyalty and respect for others.

Relatives, colleagues and well-wishers thronged the venue with bouquets of flower to congratulate the newly appointed. The new officials include technical advisers, inspectors, directors, heads of departments, sub directors and heads of units. The ceremony was equally an opportunity to bid farewell to some workers due retirement.
