FCFA 30 million was realised at a fundraising recently organised by Presbyterian Church, PC Bonaberi, Douala, on August 3, to build a structure which will host a ‘Sunday School’, the Pastor’s house, among others.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee of the fundraising, Ntumfor Barrister Nico Halle, praised all the donors, who were from all walks of life.

He expressed joy that, in spite of the difficult economic climate in the country and the world at large, people still sacrificed and contributed to the multipurpose project, to God’s glory. He thanked friends of PC Bonaberi congregation from different parts of the country, who responded to the appeal for donations.

Members of the PC Bonaberi Congregation were also impressed with their donors and thanked Ntumfor for the mobilisation. According to them, Ntumfor, a peace crusader, international legal consultant, and an independent personality and his crusade for transparency and accountability that helped to generate confidence in potential donors for the project, would not go the ‘Cameroonian way’ (by being embezzled).

The personalities that made the contributions includud, Dr. Nalova Lyonga - Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea; Senator Charles Mbella Moki; the Governors of the Littoral and Northwest Regions; the Consul General of Nigeria for the Northwest and Southwest Regions; Senator Simon Achidi Achu; Senator David Akwo Wallang; other MPs like Cyprian Awudu Mbaya; the Moderator of the PCC, Rt Rev Festus Ambe Asana; the Synod Clerk, Rev William Abwenzo; the Presbyterian Education Secretary, Francis Njie, among others.

Planned visit to the moderator Meanwhile, the outgoing National President of the Christian Men Fellowship, CMF, Ntumfor Halle, will, on August 15, lead a high power delegation to Buea, to visit the Moderator, Rt Rev Dr Festus Ambe Asana.

According to Halle, the visit which will be one of his last outings in his capacity as National President of CMF, will be an occasion for the outgoing members of National Committee, NATCOM, of the CMF, to, among other things, congratulate the Moderator for all the good work he has done in the service of the PCC in the last five years, to God’s glory.

The outgoing NATCOM EXCO of the CMF is comprised of the following: Ntumfor Nico Halle- National President, Emmanuel Njie – 1st Vice National President, William Mbenkum – 2nd Vice National President, Andrew Ngoumbah -Financial Secretary /Treasurer, and Stanley Fuh – Social/Publicity Secretary.

Other members of the delegation will include the Secretary Committee of the CMF, Rev Prof Emmanuel Anyambod, and the National Secretary of Men’s Work in the PCC, Rev Dr Michael Fai. All regional secretaries of the movement (CMF) will also be in part of the delegation.

CMF elections for August 30 The outgoing NATCOM EXCO was elected for a five-year mandate on August 29, 2009. The elections held at the Presbyterian Church Centre in Kumba, Southwest Region.

Within the spirit of rotating the venue of the elections between Northwest and Southwest Regions, the elections of a new NATCOM EXCO which is billed for August 30, 2014, will hold at the Presbyterian Church Centre in Bamenda, Northwest Region.

The National President of the CMF is elected for a five year mandate renewable once. Thus, the outgoing CMF National President, Ntumfor Halle, who is at the end of his first mandate, was expected to run for a second mandate, but he took an unprecedented decision in the history of the movement, by refusing to go in for another mandate. He has insisted that it is not a good idea to hang on to an elected post and that people should learn to share leadership positions with others.

The Moderator, Rev Dr Asana, who is close to the end of his first five year mandate, has also indicated that he will not run for a second mandate. The election of a new Moderator is scheduled to hold in November, 2014.

Observers, however, hold that there have been many cases in the country, where people have come back on their earlier decisions under the pretext that they yielded to pressure from the people.
