This year, Plan Cameroon appeals for a more consistent investment in favour of the education of the girl child in Cameroon. This was revealed amongst other things last Thursday, March 7, by the Country Director of Plan Cameroon, Famari Barro, during a press conference in which the organisation presented its 2012 activities, difficulties encountered in executing their duties as well as their focus this year. Famari Barro stressed that this year; Plan Cameroon will continue to strive for lasting improvements in the quality of life of deprived children in Cameroon, their families and communities to meet their basic needs and increase their ability to participate in and benefit from their societies.

While the 2012 report of Plan Cameroon records remarkable successes in the organisation's drive to improve the living conditions of Cameroonian kids particularly in the health and education domains as well as their wellbeing. Famari Barro said such successes came with more challenges on how to maintain their position as a leading rights-based organisation as well as how to manage and improve the situation of deprived kids in Cameroon who keep increasing each passing day.

To respond to these challenges, Plan Cameroon has decided to maintain strong partnerships with key government ministries and other partners to reinforce the programme linked towards the issuance of birth certificates to children in Cameroon, mobilise more resources in a bid to protect the welfare of all deprived children in Cameroon as well as create a network of journalists who will work for the promotion of children's rights in the country.
