Prime Minister, Head of government Philemon Yang has received in audience the new Canadian High Commissioner to Cameroon, His Excellency Rene Cremonese.
During the encounter, both parties charted a new way forward for Cameroon-Canada ties with priority on trade partnership, away from the old development-based cooperation.
Accordingly, within the framework of a Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (FIPA) signed in March 2014, Cameroon and Canada will foster relations in economic issues.
HE Rene Cremonese, facing the press after the audience, indicated that Prime Minister Philemon Yang has promised that Government will fully support the new initiative.
During the audience the two officials also discussed security challenges in the Far North and Eastern regions of the country.
HE Rene Cremonese who begins his diplomatic mission in Cameroon, presented his Letters of Credence to Head of State, President Paul Biya on 6th January 2015.
