The Managing Director and his Deputy were received in audience by the Territorial Administration Minister on May 22, 2015 in Yaounde.
The wheel of general mobilisation to support war efforts by Cameroon’s Defence Forces against the terrorist sect, Boko Haram, is still turning with the private sector making its voice heard alongside popular participation.
The Managing Director of the Horse Racing and Staking Company (PMUC), Paul-Louis Tasso and his Deputy, Tatyana Mabouka Eldin, on May 22, 2015, contributed FCFA 45 million on behalf of the company to the war chest.
This was during an audience granted to both corporate officials by the President of the Ad-hoc Inter-ministerial Committee for the Management of Donations to Defence Forces and Populations within the framework of the fight against Boko Haram, René Emmanuel Sadi, who is also Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation.
Speaking to the press after the audience, Paul-Louis Tasso said it was normal for a “citizen company” like PMUC to contribute to the war chest.
“The impact of this war is felt on the entire economy. We also have to succumb and try to participate to change the situation,” he said. Tatyana Mabouka Eldin added that the gesture was very important for a company like PMUC which has been in Cameroon for two decades and employs hundreds of Cameroonians. “It is important to show every one that we are with the government against Boko Haram,” she explained.
Latest reports from the Inter-ministerial Committee say the sum of over FCFA one billion has already been collected so far from popular mobilisation to support the Defence Forces.
