Three hundred and fifty one successful students from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, the Gambia and Cameroon passed out of the Buea-based Pan-African Institute for Development West Africa (PAID-WA).
The goal of the Institution, created in 1964, is to build and bridge the African human gab. Marking their graduation, June 27, 2013, in Buea, the regional Director of PAID-WA, Rosetta Thompson, praised the State of Cameroon for their relentless support provided to the Institution as well as being the mould of human resource capacity.
In addition to previous batches in other fields, the PAID-WA this time introduced new courses and passed out their first batch of nine Masters in Sustainable Development. Other successful trainees include 11 Postgraduates in Development Management (2nd batch), seven Postgraduates in Human Resource Management (1st batch), 10 Postgraduates in Peace- Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action (1st batch), three Postgraduates in Finance Planning Management and Development (1st batch), five Bachelors of Science in Development Studies specialised in Gender, Migration and Refugee Studies (1st batch), seven Bachelors of Science specialised in Social Works and Disaster Management (1st batch), two Bachelors of Science in Development Studies specialised in Banking, Micro-Finance and Entrepreneurship (1st batch), 13 Higher Diplomas in Development Studies (3rd batch), and 35 certified in Specialised Development Studies.
The South West regional Governor was represented at the graduation ceremony by the Secretary General in his office, Fon Ndikum, who expressed delight that PAID-WA was upholding its mission of training development personnel.
