Police Bid Farewell to Late Colleague

Retired Police Commissioner, Founuiapte Mathieu was buried in his home town on Saturday.

It was a rather gloomy atmosphere at the Advanced Police College in Yaounde last Friday November 23. The event was the final farewell ceremony for the late retired Police Commissioner, Founiapte Mathieu also known as "So' Fo."

He died on November 3, 2012 at the Teaching Hospital in Limoges, France, after a protracted illness. The funeral ceremony was presided at by the Secretary General in the National Police Delegation, Victor Ndoki. Friends, relatives, colleagues and sympathizers thronged the venue to pay their last homage to the late commissioner. Born about 1954 in Sedembom, Bandjoun, in the Kounki Division of the West Region, late Founiapte Mathieu attended primary and secondary school in Bandjoun and Douala.

After obtaining a degree in Sciences from the Faculty of Sciences in the University of Yaounde 1, he later joined the police where he occupied several posts of responsibility. Even on retirement, he was active in social and religious matters in his community. Late Founiapte Mathieu was married and father of several children and grandchildren. His body was buried in his home town in Sedembom, Bandjoun, on Saturday November 23, 2012.
