Police officer looses arm over enraged refugee tussle

Initially, he was not the intended target but in the course of his law enforcement mission, his right arm has been chopped-off by an enraged refugee from the Central African Republic this 10th June 2014 in Bertoua.

Bernard Shu is a senior Police Officer working with the Bertoua third district police station.

On his way to work this fateful day, he noticed a squabble between a refugee from the Central African Republic and an urban transportation company worker.

The refugee pulled out a sharp cutlass and began chasing the transport company worker and other passengers who attempted to intervene. The senior police officer could not stay indifferent to such threats.

In order to contain the aggressor, he attempted to take out his pistol that unfortunately fell on the ground. In an effort to pick it up, the refugee anticipated his reaction and cut-off the right arm.

The onlookers in total hysteria could not hold back their fury; they pounced on the aggressor whose live was saved due to a timely intervention.

Both men were rushed to the hospital before members of the fire brigade arrived at the scene to pick-up the abandoned arm very visible on the ground.

Security officials are presently investigating the case but in the meantime Shu Bernard is gradually come out of his initial state of coma but, will hereafter live without a right arm.
