Potable Water: Investors hold talks at State House

The Minister, Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh has held talks with two representatives of two American companies interested in the potable water sector in Cameroon.

During the 15-minute audience, the Sales Executive for General Electric Co. (GE), Ali Ben Haj Hamida and Vice President of Environmental Chemical Corp. (ECC) Richard Ebel updated President Paul Biya’s collaborator on the project that is poised to begin soon.

Negotiations with competent authorities in Cameroon ended since September 2014.

Ali Ben Haj Hamida of GE told the press that the project will not only improve on access to potable water in the areas concerned but will also introduce the “Membrane and Desalination Technology”, a system new in Africa.

In the meantime, the necessary equipment to be used by the GE Corporation is pending arrival and installation at Akom Nyada near Yaounde.

This project worth 603 million US Dollars which shall be completed by the end of 2015 targets four towns: Yaounde, Tiko, Mutengene and Limbe.

At the end of the first phase, Yaounde is expected to have an extra 55,000 cubic metres of water a day to meet up with the demands of its over two million inhabitants.
