The visiting US Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power who doubles as member of President Obama’s cabinet paid a visit to the Far North Region to assess the situation of victims of terrorist threats.
After having evaluated the situation of the refugees at the Minawao Camp and the internally displaced people in Mokolo, she reaffirmed her country’s support not only to refugees of the Far North Region, but those in Chad, Nigeria and Niger.
According to Samantha Power, the Boko Haram terrorist cannot be defeated only by the use of Military force, because they have all forms of Military weapons, worse of all suicide vessels. Thus other strategies apart from military weapons will be calved out.
She also held a working session with some security officials, of the Far North Region giving them strategies for an efficient fight.
She was accompanied by a host of personalities including the coordinator of the UN system in Cameroon, Nadash Rochdi, the US ambassador to Cameroon Michael Stephen Hosa, Far North Governor Midjiyawa Bakari.
