Presbyterian Church Ntanfoang-Bali celebrates 100 Years

Created some 100 years ago, the Presbyterian Church of Ntanfoang in Bali Subdivision, Northwest Region recently celebrated 100 years of existence (1914-2014).

The tripartite event also celebrated the proclamation of Bali as a Presbytery and the induction of the Presbytery Secretary, Rev. Kingsley Titatang by the Moderator of the PCC, the Right Reverend Festus Ambe Asana.

In his sermon, the Moderator said the event marks a turning point in the life of the Church in Bali, “because in the early 1960s, as a student of the Cameroon Protestant College. CPC Bali, I use to carry out door-to-door evangelisation with expatriate Pastors, most of whom, have journeyed to the world beyond,” he noted.

He said the entire Bali Presbytery is a huge construction site because every quarter or village is extending to the church. This, to him, shows the rate at which evangelisation or the spread of the word of God is growing. To the Moderator, Bali Subdivision has given its all to the PCC and, is today reaping from its efforts.

“It was in 1949 that the only college, the CPC, was created in Bali that the Bible was translated from English in to local language, Mungaka. It is still in Bali in 2010, that the PCC decided to open the first University now known as the Cameroon Christian University, CCU, and you name the rest,” Moderator Asana averred.

Commissioning the new Presbytery Secretary for Bali, and Parish Pastor of Ntanfoang Church, Dr Asana urged them to be diligent in preaching the word of God, win more souls to God, administer and care for the sick and the God’s flock and to maintain Christian values.

Going by the rich profile of the new Presbytery Secretary as presented by the Synod Clerk, Rev. William Abenzoh Membong, the chief shepherd of the PCC, called on Titantang to put to use all the experiences he has had to ensure that the PPC grows from strength to strength in Bali.

Various speakers at the occasion, including elite like Raymond Gwanyalla, the DO, Mayor of Bali and the Fon’s representatives, expressed their gratitude to the PCC for transforming Bali. They said the upgrading of Bali into a Presbytery will further deepen the faith of the Christians.

Over FCFA 2 million was contributed to continue renovation work on the old Ntanfoang Church and the construction of the Secretariat.
